I grew up in Santa Cruz, in a family that was always in the middle of things locally. Somewhere along the way, thinking local first stopped being a habit and started being how I see everything.

Years later, I kept having the same conversation with artist friends. They loved making their work. They dreaded selling it. Not one of them liked the platforms they were stuck with, and the talented people around them were just as hard to find as they were.

Allhands started there, as a better way to discover the makers in my own community. But the more I sat with it, the bigger it got. What I actually want to build is technology that strengthens the place it's in. Something that makes a community more connected than it was before, first here, then anywhere it's needed.

I'm not a maker myself. I take photos, I shoot video, and I spent a good part of my childhood in wood shop and jewelry and film photography classes, which is probably where a lot of this comes from. I'm a firefighter, and the fourth generation in my family to do it.

I'm building Allhands with Linsong, a talented full stack developer handling the technical side. We're starting in San Diego, a place I know well and love. If it works here, we take it everywhere.
